SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Getting started early is the key to success and at Ohio Valley Voices we support an early intervention model. It is important for families of children with hearing impairment to receive a solid foundation through education. We believe that knowledge is power and we help provide knowledge about hearing loss and language to every family that enters our doors.

Parent Education and Support

It is well documented that children with disabilities have a better probability of success if the parents are simultaneously educated and supported. Parent education is a central focus at The Family Center. Parents benefit from weekly educational sessions focusing on language development and understanding hearing impairment. Parents have weekly meetings with a staff member to discuss the individual needs of their children.

Each family enrolled in The Family Center participates in the Parent Support Groups. These support groups help each parent successfully navigate their way through the emotional experience of having a child with a hearing impairment.

Summer Session and Tutoring

Ohio Valley Voices offers a four week summer session to students that are currently enrolled at Ohio Valley Voices. The summer program is designed to continue to provide spoken language instruction in order to accelerate each child's spoken language development. Individual or partner tutoring is available in the summer for current students of Ohio Valley Voices.

Alumni

Year round individualized tutoring sessions are available to students whom have graduated from Ohio Valley Voices. We work collaboratively with public school districts to serve our graduates that are currently enrolled in their districts.

Before and After School Care

Ohio Valley Voices recognizes the need for working families to have access to before and after school care for their children. We offer a before and after school care program for students who are currently enrolled at Ohio Valley Voices.

Audiology

For our students to succeed in spoken language development they must first have the appropriate access to sound. Ohio Valley Voices provides a full audiology clinic to ensure each child at Ohio Valley Voices is able to continuously have the appropriate access to sound through their hearing device(s). The Family speech and Hearing Clinic (FHSC), an LLC wholly owned by Ohio Valley Voices, is a full-service audiology clinic located on the school's campus. The FSHC employs a full-time licensed pediatric audiologist and an audiology aide.
