NEW HOME PROJECT

Ohio Valley Voices has built a new home!

Due to space constraints, Ohio Valley Voices was forced to create a waiting list of families who wanted an oral educational option for their deaf children. It was truly a tragedy that these children had to postpone their journey to learn to speak because Ohio Valley Voices’ facility could not accommodate them.

Ohio Valley Voices was leasing the Sunday School classrooms of a local church, which was used by the school during the week and the church on Sundays. Since Ohio Valley Voices' inaugural year, enrollment had more than tripled. A temporary building was brought in to accommodate administrative offices and storage. A closet in the church was converted to a library and a vacant house next to the church was rented to accommodate our Family Center.

Finally in 2006, after a site search and construction process that lasted more than three years, Ohio Valley Voices moved into its new facility. Ohio Valley Voices is now able to serve twice as many students and employ a full range of audiological services. The total project cost Ohio Valley Voices $3.3 Million, of which $1.5 Million must be raised from private sources.

The campaign to raise private funds for our “New Home Project” is being led by Honorary Chairs Cris Collinsworth, sports broadcaster and former Cincinnati Bengals star and Buddy & Mike LaRosa of LaRosa’s Pizzeria. Members of the Board of Trustees of Ohio Valley Voices are actively involved in building the community support necessary for success.
